making safer connections
A universal standard supports better practice and patient care
ENFit is a universal standard, reverse luer-lock connector that reduces the risk of misconnection by ensuring only enteral devices can connect to each other.
ENFit was developed by an international team of clinicians, manufacturers and the FDA seeking to decrease enteral tubing misconnections. Collaborating with the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AMMI), the group developed the current universal ISO 80369 standards.
Designed for safety
Why ENFit?
ENFit connectors with twist-in functionality replace all friction-held legacy connectors, improving safety in several ways:
- Less risk of misconnections – the unique design ensures enteral tubing and syringes can connect only to feeding tubes
- Fewer accidental enteral disconnections – locking threads hold connectors securely to tubing
- Easier and safer to use a universal standard connector

Making the transition to ENFit
Feeding tubes and medication syringes now require ENFit® devices. ENFit transition connectors can temporarily bridge the gap between non-ENFit and ENFit enteral products. This video demonstrates how to use ENFit transition connectors.
