Respecting fundamental rights throughout our supply chain
Our ethical sourcing program ensures that our supply chain is reflective of our values, taking a sustainable and responsible approach to supply chain management. We respect, honor and uphold fundamental human rights for all workers in our supply chain.
Following 11 foundational pillars
Our ethical sourcing program is built on 11 pillars that reinforce our values and commitments by:
- Setting clear expectations for our suppliers
- Continuous monitoring throughout our supplier relationships
- Proactive risk mitigation
- Regular training and engagement on relevant health, safety, labor and human rights issues
We’re guided by widely accepted international best practices
Medline is committed to conducting business in an ethical manner. As part of that commitment, we regularly review our policies and procedures, benchmarking them against international best practices to ensure we’re operating consistently with the latest international guidance.
The United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is based on three pillars: Protect human rights; respect human rights by complying with all applicable laws; and provide appropriate and effective remedies when breached.
The ILO is a specialized UN agency that advances social justice and promotes decent work. Giving an equal voice to employees, employers and governments, they set labor standards, develop policies and devise programs for 187 member countries.
The SA8000 Standard was developed by Social Accountability International (SAI), an independent organization dedicated to advancing human rights in the workplace. SA8000 is a framework for certifying “fair and decent” working conditions and “adherence to the highest social standards.”
WRAP certification program for our glove manufacturing partners
In 2022, Medline’s gloves divisions initiated the first-ever WRAP certification project in the medical device sector. Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is a world-renowned organization that independently monitors and certifies compliance with fundamental health, safety and human rights standards in the global supply chain.
Medline has teamed up with WRAP to develop an independent social compliance certification standard for our glove manufacturers, further ensuring our gloves are made ethically and responsibly.
